Event Details

Take a guided tour of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge & Visitor's Center in the hopes of spotting a bugling elk during the height of the elk mating season. Tour participants will meet their guide at the Lawton refuge's Visitor Center before loading up on the bus. During this special three-hour tour, visitors can look out for bull elks making high-pitched bugling sounds in bursts of aggression and frustration. Guests may also witness bison, white-tailed deer and wild turkey from their tour bus seats. To book a reservation on a September or October tour, call the Visitor Center. Reservations are limited and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Located 25 miles NW of Lawton. From I-44 take Hwy 49 (exit 45). Go W 10 miles to the Refuge gate. If coming from Hwy 62, take Hwy 115 (Cache exit) N to the Refuge gate. Continue N 2 miles to the E 1/4 mile. The Refuge Headquarters is located 6 miles W of the Visitor Cente
