Event Details

Honor an iconic American hero with a celebration of love and equality at the MLK Holiday Parade and Celebration in OKC. Organized by the OKC Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Coalition, the parade will include a full day of events capped off with a parade featuring floats, vehicles and peaceful marchers, all rallying around this year’s theme, “CommUNITY.”

Representing the spirit of the modern Civil Rights movement, the day’s events begin at 9 am with a silent march from the Freedom Center at NE 26th and MLK along 23rd Street to the Oklahoma History Center for the Bell Ringing Ceremony at 11 am. Just after noon, the Annual King Holiday Program will begin at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in the historic Deep Deuce District. Around 2 pm, the parade will begin at St. Paul’s and wind its way through Bricktown and into downtown OKC.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Coalition of Oklahoma City seeks to honor the memory and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by holding events that celebrate his life and work, as well as continue his values and aspirations for equality and justice for all people.

The Coalition is a project of the Oklahoma NABSW. It is is a 501(c)3 organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
