Venture into Oklahoma City's brand-new urban oasis during the Scissortail Park Grand Opening weekend. Throughout the weekend, guests can preview all the fun to be had at this 70-acre urban wonderland, from walking the trails to climbing the fort tower. All ages and even dogs are invited to enjoy all Scissortail Park has to offer.
On Friday, the festivities kick off with a fleet of food trucks, followed by the official Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting and Dedication ceremony. After securing a mouthwatering entree at your favorite food truck, be sure to take a seat on the Love's Travel Stops Stage & Great Lawn to see an Oklahoma-rooted band, Kings of Leon, perform live. At the end of the night, watch fireworks light up the downtown skyline to cap off the first round of Grand Opening activities.
Saturday morning, jumpstart your day with a free Zumba! class, followed by paddleboat rides, family-friendly events and more. Try a new food truck before checking out the community art installations created by Tony Thunder, Amanda Zoey and the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center. Plenty of musicians will fill the Scissortail Park gardens and grounds with lively sounds, including the evening's main feature, a starry night concert by Markus James & the Wassonrai, followed by more fireworks.
On the final day of festivities during the Scissortail Park Grand Opening weekend, catch up on any outdoor recreation opportunities you missed Saturday. Paddleboat rides, food trucks, live entertainment and the kid zone fun will continue into Sunday. In the afternoon, be sure to watch local performance groups sing and dance before the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band showcases their booming sound. Following the official closing ceremony, be sure to stay for the Oklahoma City Philharmonic concert and a final round of fireworks.
